My Unexpected Adventure: Conquering a Hip Joint Dislocation
Hey there, fellow explorer! I’m a regular software developer, deep into the world of coding and algorithms. But let me share with you an extraordinary journey that took me way out of my comfort zone and taught me some solid lessons about grit, friendship, and the incredible power of the human body.
One fine weekend, driven by impulsive nature, my buddies and I decided to escape the city chaos and set off on a trek near Bangalore. We booked two cars and were all set, our plan was simple — kick off the trek at night and lose ourselves in the heart of the jungle. Little did I know that this escapade was about to take a dramatic twist.
As we started our journey further into the dense wilderness, destiny had a different plan in store for us. We set the full ambience, the car was moving slowly somewhere around 30–40 km/h. Honey Singh and Sidhu Moose Wala are all high. In short, we are being in the moment.
It's around 1–2 am in the morning, and we are about 15km far from our tracking place. Suddenly on dog came middle of the road, ad our car got disbalance. One of us shouted, “Hey, Tree”. And the next second we hit that tree and blank. At that point, we don't have any Idea what just happened.
I was in the back seat and somehow we came outside of that car and took a long breath. When I took my first step only I realised my left leg is not supporting my movement. Then one by one all my friends came outside and I was happy at least god saved all of us. No matter what happens next, we will see that together.
Our other car was 3 km away I called them and meanwhile a group of bikes came there and helped us. They gave water to us and two of us were bleeding that time. They helped us to calm down, but still, we are in shock. Quickly, we dialled for an ambulance but were not able to give them exact locations.
Finally, it came and took us to the nearest hospital. They gave me painkillers and started their diagnosis. By that time I am feeling pain but able to digest that. But it was getting tuff on me as the clock was moving. They did X-rays but not enough then took me to another hospital for CT Scan. One of my friends was also series for both of us are in pain.
That hospital was around 10 km and again ambulance and wheelchair. They took us to a CT Scan machine. Wow,’ what engineering came out of my mouth? After some time reports came and we went back to the hospital with the reports. And then the bad news came that I have dislocated my left Hip Joint and needed to go threw surgery.
Surgery? Me? I was a software developer, not someone who generally found themselves in a hospital gown. Now we need to inform my parents in Jaipur, it was a tough job for my friends. The news went there and then a queue of phone calls started ringing to all of us. We convinced Mom it happened, and we have to do this surgery right now.
My friends found one good orthopaedic surgeon and talked to him. Again they took to another hospital in an ambulance. I was getting comfortable inside the ambulance by that time. Now the pain was too much for me and god those road breakers. In around one hour we reached there.
A small team was already waiting for us, and after some basic formalities, they took me to OT(Operation Theatre). I was always a geek for heavy machinery, I was not able to see much but OT was like heaven for me. They have done one more X-Ray again and took me to that table.
While the anesthesiologist is giving me anaesthesia I ask him to tell me the process they are going to follow. They told me they will start with a live X-ray test to see the damage to the hip joint. Then a stability test and then a small cut and some metal inside my body. When I was talking to them after some time I became conscious but not fully awake.
When I walk up, they said they are done. How fast… they told me there is no cut in my body they just fixed it from the outside, and the bone will recover by the time. Horray I came outside and my friends clapped for me, still thinking why? Now I was in bed with a 4kg traction (weight). Then few days I took so many trips and food I don't want to have.
After 4 days they gave me discharge and we came to our adda(flat). The whole street was waiting for a patient with a broken leg. Now I have to lie down straight in bed for 1 month and more. Food, washroom and all daily utility will happen like that. And it was a big challenge for a person like me, who can't sit at his desk for more than half an hour.

After a few days mom, Dad came to Banglore, and Mom started crying after seeing me. Days one, two, and three… are going very slowly and I am being used to lying down on bad whole day and night. After two weeks we got one more MRI to see progress, and thankfully report was quite good.
Fast forward one month, and we need to see the doctor to remove that traction and tell us further process. When we went hospital he removed traction and made me sit. Believe me, that time felt close to impossible for me. He told us to get physiotherapy for a few weeks and gave us a prescription for that.
My friends found one physiotherapist the same day and he came in the evening. He checked my report and condition. He told he will come tomorrow and here pain of the next level begins. Here I was not moving 1% he is making me sit and stand. God, it was dam painful to move my body now, especially my knee. After this long my knee got stiff and my mussels got tight.
Slowly I started walking with a walker and then a crutch. It took around 2 weeks but that guy made me stand on my leg. He told me by next week I can move to my hometown. I booked a ticket for a ticket because I had a lot of luggage with me. My friends again gave me another farewell from Banglore and I came home.
As of today, I am good and recovering very fast. But it will take a few more months to recover fully. Guided by the unwavering support of my friends, they rallied together to find a skilled doctor who could fix my injured hip. This journey imparted profound lessons — about the resilience of the human body, the unwavering support of friends, and the remarkable strength of the mind.
As I look back on this whirlwind experience, I’m reminded of the remarkable capacity of the human spirit to overcome even the most daunting challenges. From lines of code to the intricate mechanics of the body, life has a way of surprising us with its twists and turns. So, dear readers, let this be a testament to the fact that we are capable of conquering the unexpected and emerging from the depths of adversity stronger and more resilient than ever before.
